Steve-FriesSteve is in his 35th year as a college instructor, teaching at several local area colleges. He instructs a wide range of business courses that include economics, quantitative decision making methods, organizational behavior, human resource management, business & society, introduction to business, operations management, small business management, international management, and management principles.

Along with instructing experience Steve is retired as the Manager of Human Resources Development and Communications at the Alcoa Lancaster Facility. In this role he was responsible for managing the training and development of the workforce, selection processes, compensation, internal and external communications, and public and community affairs. In his 40 plus years at this manufacturing facility he had also worked in a variety of roles including operations, technical services and customer service.

Steve is active in the community with workforce development and business-education partnerships and volunteers with the Lancaster County Workforce Investment Board (having served as board chair and vice-chair and on the executive and finance committees, and recently as interim executive director), Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association, Lancaster Chamber of Business & Industry, and S.T.E.A.M. – ROLLER (a STEM related program). Steve is a grants reviewer for the Lancaster County Community Foundation; and a board member of the Central Division of the PA Pennsylvania Economy League.  He serves as a mentor to ex-military members in the American Corporate Partners (ACP), connecting US Veterans to business leaders.

Steve generously shares his leadership experiences with numerous college students in various student organizations throughout the region and has been awarded an “Excellence in Teaching” award at one local college.  He earned a MBA and a BS in Business Administration both from the Pennsylvania State University.
