Home / HU RN to BSN Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take me to complete my BSN?

Since courses are completed in a 7-week time frame you may choose to take 2 courses during a 7-week session.  This would allow you to complete 4 courses in a semester, including summer, and qualify you as a full-time student.  With this schedule you would complete the program in 1.5 years.  Since the program is designed for the practicing RN, part-time study is also available.

What will it cost for me to get my BSN?

All Online Bachelor’s Degree Program (OBD) courses at HU are $500.00/credit.

How many credits will I receive for my previous RN program?

Your RN license will allow you to transfer up to 70 credits toward your BSN.  Additional upper division coursework completed may also transfer.  We want to give you the maximum credit possible for your past accomplishment.  Submit all your transcripts for an evaluation.

Is there financial aid available?

Yes.  If you take two courses within the same 7-week term or one course each in two back-to-back 7-week terms within the same semester, you may be eligible for financial aid.  To find our more, contact the HU Office of Financial Aid at 717-901-5115 or email FinancialAid@HarrisburgU.edu.

Will I need to complete any practicums?

You will have unique opportunities to combine academic coursework with your professional practice in completing requirements for the BSN.  Leadership and Community practicums will provide you an opportunity to engage in health care advocacy efforts in your individual communities.  Working collaboratively with RN nurse educators, you have a unique opportunity to pursue scholarship and practical experiences in self-identified arenas or interest, and within the organization where you practice.
